Risk & Due Diligence
Business risk assessment
Understanding where a business is exposed and identifying practical ways to reduce that exposure: financial, commercial, counterparty and operational.
What it is
A risk assessment identifies the exposures that could materially affect a business, estimates how severe and how likely they are, and sets out proportionate ways to reduce them.
It is evidence-based and specific to the business: concentration in a few customers, dependency on a single supplier, thin liquidity, a counterparty with a weak balance sheet.
Commercial and financial analysis. Not a statutory audit, legal opinion or regulated investment advice.
When it is useful
- A large share of revenue comes from a few customers
- A key supplier or partner has become hard to replace
- Cash is tight despite reported profit
- The business is growing faster than its controls
- A lender, partner or board has asked for a risk view
- You want to understand exposure before a major decision
